About

Walk In The Cold

Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, in partnership with Club Inc, Crisis Center, Eastern Idaho College, and the Salvation Army, invites you to join us for a Walk in the Cold, Saturday, March 9th 2019 starting at 5:00pm. The Walk will start at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls and will be an interactive 5k along the Greenbelt loop, finishing back at Freeman Park with dinner provided by the Salvation Army.

The purpose of Walk in the Cold is two-fold:  to raise awareness and address the stigmas associated with homelessness in our community, and to raise funds to support nonprofits in our community who provide resources to those facing poverty and homelessness in Southeastern Idaho.

In 2018, the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission provided over 20,000 meals and over 12,000 safe nights of sleep to hungry and homeless people in our community. As we meet these basic, immediate needs of food and shelter, we also have the opportunity to provide vouchers for clothing, and connections to other community resources that provide long term opportunities for a better future.

Through Walk in the Cold, we hope to provide participants with a glimpse into what we see every day. Each person who walks through our doors carries a unique story, full of gifts, abilities, experiences, and potential that often remains invisible to the rest of the world.

As a participant in Walk in the Cold, you have the opportunity to partner as much as you would like. We ask each participant to generate a minimum $25 in order to register, and any additional pledges will be counted toward individual totals that will be eligible for prizes. We will be awarding prizes for the top individuals in each category, and for the top school, so be sure to fill in your information completely!

We count it as a high privilege to introduce our community to the people we serve, and to partner with our community in ways that will enable us to continue to serve with compassion and excellence.Thank you so much for your support, and for joining us on our journey as we ‘Walk in the Cold.’
